Whether your artwork is original or fan-based, please be kind and give these rules a once over.
FOR ORIGINAL ART
As the name suggests, your art must be 100% ORIGINAL. Using copyrighted work with the intention of passing it off as your own is a very serious offense, and will not be tolerated here.
Please keep the content somewhat family-friendly. Post a rating of your artwork in the title (Example: MY ART (PG13--Extreme violence))
No NC-17 stuff, guys. This isn't the place for smut.
Please try to post small images. If your image is exceptionally large, post a link to it instead.
FOR FAN-BASED ARTWORK
See the above rules for original works as well.
In your title, please post what fandom your art is for along with the rating.
While your art may be fan-based, that does not mean you can copy/paste another person's art and say it is your work because you added a character or something. That's a big no-no.
Also, before your art please place a disclaimer stating that you do not own the work your artwork is based of unless you have confirmed permission from the copyrighted author/artist to use their creations in yourart.
If you would like feedback on your work, please let us know :3
TIPS FOR GIVING/RECEIVING FEEDBACK
With the above statement being said, I believe it is only fair that I offer some pointers for giving and getting criticism. I know that it is not the easiest thing to swallow but seeing as you have placed your artwork on a public forum someone is bound to tell you what they think about it.
Not everyone who sees your artwork is going to stroke your ego. Some artists out there genuinely want to help you cultivate your skill and will tell you some areas in your artwork that need improvement.
That being said, there is a large difference between constructive criticism and flaming.
This is an example of constructive criticism: Hey, I looked over your artwork. I think (insert part of artwork here) is really awesome but (blah), (blah), and (blah) need a little improvement. (the reviewer then explains how those areas could be improved)
Granted, the reviewer may not always be as gentle as the above example, but if the post is similar to this, then it is constructive criticism and there is no need to report it.
This is an example of flaming: HEY I SAW THIS PIECE OF CRAP AND IT SUKS YOU CAN'T DRAW FOR **** YOU ****ING PIECE OF ***** *** ******!!!!11!!
As stated before, the cases may vary but posts along this line are considered flaming/trolling and should be brought to a staff member's attention immediately.
When reviewing, please take into consideration the fact that the artist has actual feelings and has worked very hard on their story. While it is understandable that you are trying to help them improve, please critique their work in a somewhat pleasant manner.
If you have taken the time to read these rules (as you should ), then you shouldn't encounter any problems when posting your art. The main point of this thread is for you to show off your skills and improve them (if you need/want to!).
Happy drawing,
Tonks
